  1. Around 17 mm inner width? Back in the day, people used to run 26 x 2.2″ tires on those. It’s not ideal, but it will work.

Personally, I wouldn’t do it. Going wide has several advantages, so these days it’s common to use 20-22 mm for road bikes tires.

Looks too narrow to me as well, 16-18mm internal width is going to give big tires some issues

What’s the inner rim width? 17mm?

If so, 2″ is fine on that for a commuting bike or city bike. People act like it’ll suddenly combust because it’s a bit too wide.

As a setup on a trail bike? Nah, hard pass, the “light-bulb” profile of the tyre wouldn’t handle well around corners.

17mm rim is not ideal for a 2 inch tire, but it’s definitely rideable. You will have to watch the pressures, if you go too low, tire will become squirmy in corners.

  5. Not ideal but back in the day I ran 2.25s on a 17mm internal on hard singletrack for a while. Have even done it recently on an old bike. It will feel squirmy in hard turns but it’s not a death trap like some make it sound like.

  6. Looks like a 16-17 mm inside width rim. We used rims that narrow for 2.2 mtb tires in the 90s and they didn’t blow off rims. It’s not considered ideal these days, but it will work.
