Saint Aldegonde, founder and patron of Maubeuge in Northern France, is invoked to this day against cancer — and especially breast cancer, the illness she is said to have suffered at the end of her life.
Many women in remission still come to this chapel to pray to Saint Aldegonde and to give thanks for their recovery.

This short film tells the story of her chapel and its sacred spring: a place of faith, healing and memory for more than a thousand years. From an ancient oratory to the chapel destroyed in the 1914 explosion, and the one rebuilt in brick in 1953, the place has never stopped welcoming those who come to pray — for the sick, for their families, and for children who struggle to walk.
This film is also the first step toward a larger documentary dedicated to Saint Aldegonde and the saints of the Sambre Valley — a 60 to 90 minute film in both French and English, created to bring a fading local heritage back into the light.
