Join me for Flashback Friday. Once a week I will share a classic tour so that the community can watch together.
Cologne, was founded by the Romans and is over 2,000 years old, an has the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe. The people of Cologne are so proud of this landmark, you can even find cathedral shaped waffles in the Christmas markets. Cologne also claims to be the home of glühwein, which can be found everywhere and is a perfect way to keep warm whilst exploring the markets.
The traditional Christmas markets in Cologne first started to appear in 1820, and quickly became an annual event in the city, and there are now 7 totally different Christmas markets to choose from. During this tour, we will visit a couple of them.
Whichever markets we visit, we will get a taste of what the festive season means to people here in Cologne and also experience the warm glow inside that Christmas markets give you (or is that the glühwein?). Come with me as we explore the ancient streets of Cologne and enjoy some festive fun and winter cheer.

So good to be back in Cologne – a city I've visited many times, and where I first discovered Christmas markets over 40 years ago. I've loved them ever since (and gluhwein!). Great to have an early (flashback) visit this year. Hoping there will be many live ones to come.
