Rolling into the Dordogne feels like riding straight into a storybook. Our journey took us along winding river roads to Beynac, where the massive stone château towers over the Dordogne River. Parking the bike below the cliffs, we climbed through narrow medieval streets, soaking in views that haven’t changed much in centuries. The ride in alone—smooth tarmac, river bends, and golden stone villages—set the tone for what would be an unforgettable stretch of France.

From there, we headed to Sarlat-la-Canéda, the beating heart of the region. The streets buzzed with life, markets overflowing with local food, and café tables spilling onto cobblestones. Riding into town felt like threading a needle between history and modern life. Every corner revealed another perfectly preserved building, and every stop tempted us to slow down, wander, and enjoy the atmosphere that makes Sarlat so special.

The adventure continued up to Domme, perched high above the river with panoramic views that reward every tight uphill turn. From Domme, we made our way to Rouffignac, famous for its prehistoric cave art and peaceful countryside. The contrast between dramatic cliffside villages and quiet forest roads made this part of the Dordogne a rider’s dream—rich history, incredible scenery, and roads that beg you to keep going just a little farther.
