My journey begins at the Europabrücke multi-story car park in Konstanz—a convenient and budget-friendly spot, perfect for anyone starting their Lake Constance adventure. From there, I set out on a scenic bike ride, crossing the border into Switzerland and Austria while stopping in Bregenz for a delicious lunch. Next, I pedal onward to Lindau, Germany, soaking in the charm of this picturesque town. As evening approaches, I checked into my hotel in Friedrichshafen, just in time to witness a breathtaking sunset along the promenade.
The following morning, I witnessed a beautiful sunrise over the lakefront, setting the tone for a day full of exploration. A visit to the Zeppelin Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into aviation history, before my ride continues along the northwest coast on a hot day—searching for the perfect lakeside spot to cool off. After a few well-deserved breaks and a tasty lunch, I arrive at Reichenau Island, famed for its sandy beach coastline. The visit to Reichenau Abbey stands out as a highlight: its ancient walls, simple church, and tranquil atmosphere create a memorable experience. The fragrant herb garden bursts with colors, making it a wonderful place to unwind and explore. My adventure also includes a stop at the local winery, Winzerverein Reichenau, where I pick up a bottle of regional wine and a cozy wine hoodie for the journey home.
On my way back to the car park in Konstanz, I discovered a stunning swimming spot at the foot of the Alte Rheinbrücke—a bridge surrounded by remarkable architecture and fascinating buildings.
