17 days. 1,400 km. 14 days on the bikes. π΄ββοΈπ΄ββοΈ
We cycled from Romania π·π΄ through Bulgaria π§π¬ to Greece π¬π·, all the way to the beautiful island of Samothraki β and then back home.
Two bikes, two huge 50L backpacks, panniers, endless roads, mountain villages, rain, ferry rides, beaches, cherries picked straight from the trees π and plenty of unexpected adventures.
At one point, the rain caught us and we stopped inside a tunnel to change clothesβ¦ only to be spotted by the tunnel monitoring operator! π A few kilometers later, we were stopped and reminded that camping/changing clothes in a tunnel is, apparently, not allowed. π
We loved Bulgaria, the mountain villages, the people, the quiet roads and all those beautiful places that felt completely off the map.
And then came Samothraki. πβ°οΈ
We took the ferry to the island, went hiking up Mount Fengari, and even had a little dog follow us almost all the way to the summit. πβ€οΈ
Supermarkets, occasional pizza and beer stops, thousands of pedal strokes, tired legs, beautiful landscapes and a ridiculous amount of cherries. π
This was just the beginning of our 1,400 km cycling adventure. β€οΈ
