I’m looking for an easy to ride, low maintenance, city bike for my partner who is trying to get back into casual cycling. She unfortunately has to move on from her road bike due to wrist issues, but has never been terribly confident on it. So we’re looking for something more upright and easier to ride. Our budget is low, but the current sales are pretty enticing from Linus and Public.
The two we’re considering are the Linus Dutchi 3i ($770 shipped) and the Public C7i ($660 shipped). Both are low quality, entry level steel, both weigh the same. The big difference is the Linus is 3 speed and the Public is 7 (and $100 cheaper shipped.) The Linus looks like it has a comfier saddle and comes with a rack, but the Public has mounting points for a rack, so we could add one.
Regardless of the price difference, I’m curious to hear if there are any opinions on one over the other. I’m personally leaning towards the Linus, just because I trust them as a company after seeing friend’s bikes over the years, but I’m not sure if I just have brand bias.
We’re looking at the small model for each of these (my partner is 5’0).
