Hi cyclists in Taiwan — I’m a solo female cyclist looking to do the No.1 around-the-island (huan dao) and had a few questions for those who’ve done it:
1. Is it safe to do alone, especially as a solo female traveler? Are there any precautions, tips, or backup plans you had in case something were to go awry?
2. Currently, my itinerary is planned as below, are there any concerns/things you would recommend changing? I am planning to follow this guide mostly [https://www.bikeexpress.com.tw/2023/the-classic-9-day-cycling-around-taiwan-along-cycle-route-no-1-or-alternative-routes/](https://www.bikeexpress.com.tw/2023/the-classic-9-day-cycling-around-taiwan-along-cycle-route-no-1-or-alternative-routes/). I have 2 “rest” days where I will be exploring Kenting National Park and Taroko Gorge
3. I’m Taiwanese American, so my Mandarin is good enough to get by 🙂 But in general, any tips re: language barriers would also be helpful
