ln 1986, Luli Adeyemo, originally from Newark in the East Midlands, won the World Championships in Slough, England after only racing for a year. Luli went on to win a bag of British titles and even the ABA Grand Nationals in the US in 1989.
Luli was inducted into the British BMX Hall of Fame in 2023 and is back racing in Australia, where she resides these days. She will be racing the 2025 UCI World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark in a few weeks’ time — 39 years after her ’86 win.
