Looking to start a build for a new bike but need help picking the frame. I want to have the most compact bike the will fit in the Post Transfer Carry Case (linked below). This case will only fit bikes that allow for the front fork to be removed. This is a very niche build because I hate lugging my Scicon Aerocomfort around the airport and getting bigger rental cars due to its size. I have a few options listed below, but would love some opinions from people with more experience than myself.
Criteria
I want a race oriented road bike, but it needs to have the ability to remove the fork to fit in the above case. Disc brakes are also a must. My options are either a bike with external brake cabling or altering a fully integrated bike to expose the wires (might not even be possible). Also, I’m not sure if SRAM is the smarter move due to its fully wireless capability or if Shimano will suffice.
Option 1
– S Works Tarmac SL6 Disc – this is a fast and comfortable bike with external brake cabling that will suit the job, however this direction makes me feel as I’m missing out on some newer tech as it is almost 9 years old. There could be other bikes like this I’m missing so open to suggestions.
Option 2
– Any newer road bike (Tarmac, Aeroad, Foil RC, etc) where I am able to remove the integrated cables and reroute them externally to drop the fork and remove the handlebars.
Open to any suggestions or even calling me crazy. Just curious to what is possible as I’m not sure that option 2 is feasible or worth the hassle.
