BZEN builds city e-bikes under 20 kilograms, made in Europe, designed in Belgium. The Vienna costs 3,199 euros, the Monaco 4,290 euros. This video looks at what that gap actually buys you.
The motor tells most of the story. The Vienna runs a Bafang rear hub motor with 45 Nm, sits extremely low, both feet flat on the ground while seated. Stable, safe, straightforward. The Monaco runs a Bafang mid-drive with 75 Nm, works through the Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub, and uses the gearing exactly as your legs do. On a hill with a loaded rack, that logic makes a real difference.
The battery concept splits them further. The Vienna has 252 Wh integrated cleanly into the frame, beautiful and slim, but you charge it where the bike parks. The Monaco has 504 Wh in a battery that comes out in seconds and goes wherever you go.
Three questions decide which one is right: how hilly is your city, how far do you ride daily, and do you have a power outlet at your parking spot.
