Hi everyone – would appreciate any tips! I always thought that bikes were pretty simple things but now that I'm looking to buy my first bike I realize there's a lot more going on than I thought. Ideally I want to buy something with an upright riding position, and that works for cycling around the city and on paved beach paths – not looking to go off road or anything. I was hoping to be able to spend $450 or less on something entry-level, used is fine although ideally from a shop.
One store recommended the Barron Plus Comfort: https://retrospec.com/products/barron-plus-comfort-hybrid-bike-21-speed and I realized I had no idea if this was a good one for me.
Another store recommended a Cannondale Quick which they had pre-owned at $240 but the tires looked a bit thin and smooth – again not sure if this matters for what I'm looking for? They said it'd be possible to add wider tires later on, maybe that'd help
if anyone has any tips for what kind of bike I should buy as my first basic one, I'd appreciate it!
