Saw this 1984 Mercian Olympic frame on eBay and couldn’t resist. It was missing a fork, so I paired it with a VO Campeur fork I picked up a few years ago. It’s not a perfect color match, but close enough. I’m still on the fence about lining the fork crown in gold.
The Mercian replaces a red Trek 330 frame I’ve been riding for 20 years. It has almost identical geometry and I’m using the same mix of parts from that build. Weight has never been much of a concern for me, but I was surprised at the difference. Without the fork, the Trek frame weighs 5.5lbs, the Mercian 4.25.
