Dahlia booked a 27 mile loop, which started next to prehistoric Silbury Hill, a short distance from the start of The Ridgeway. The Ridgeway is often called Britain’s oldest road and has a history stretching back thousands of years.
Starting our ride on The Ridgeway, we travelled through open countryside, taking in some of the historical landmarks that this area has to offer. A climb up on chalk trails towards Round Hill Downs delivers views across Swindon before riding by Liddington Castle, onto Barbury Castle and right by the white horse of Hackpen Hill.
Our final destination and the end of the ride was at Avebury Henge, where you can explore the ancient stones which date from 2600BC.
