My route today takes me along the former railway line from Stafford to Newport, Shropshire. The line originally opened in 1849 and continued onto the market town of Wellington in Shropshire. The section of line I cycle closed in 1966 and from Newport to Donnington closed in 1969.
Today this section is known as the Newport to Syafford greenway, part of the National Cycle Network route 55.
