What happens when you stumble across a local cycling club on a Sunday morning and decide to give them a head start?
On this ride from Le Pin towards Roquebrun, I came across riders from the Pézenas Cycling Club and decided to turn the ride into a challenge. Could a solo rider bridge the gap and catch the group?
The roads through the Hérault are some of the finest cycling roads in Southern France. Quiet villages, vineyard-lined roads, rolling terrain and the stunning approach towards Roquebrun create the perfect setting for a proper Sunday ride.
The challenge became even harder when my riding partner enjoyed a comfortable draft behind me for almost 2 kilometres before launching up the road, leaving me with the task of chasing both him and the group – Etiquette Fail?!
What followed was one of those rides where you have to dig a little deeper than planned.
