Switching wheels on Peugeot PX10S

Hi all,

I recently bought a 1982 Peugeot PX10S with all original components. I’m considering switching to more modern wheels and tires with inner tubes to make it better suited for longer weekend rides.

Ideally, I’d like to keep the original hubs and derailleurs if possible.

Has anyone done a similar conversion on a PX10/PX10S or similar bikes? What wheel and tire setup would you recommend, and are there any compatibility issues I should watch out for?
