Join us as we cycle one of Dorset’s best family friendly bike rides, the North Dorset Trailway.
Starting in the market town of Sturminster Newton, this traffic free route follows the former Somerset & Dorset Railway through the beautiful Blackmore Vale countryside. Along the way we pass through woodland trails, cross old railway bridges and enjoy some of Dorset’s most peaceful countryside before stopping at the beautifully restored Shillingstone Railway Station.
Once a busy stop on the old railway line, the station now offers a fascinating glimpse into Dorset’s railway heritage and makes a popular stop for cyclists, walkers and families exploring the Trailway.
On this ride, we continue on to the picturesque village of Stourpaine, home to the award-winning White Horse Inn, one of just five winners of The Telegraph’s “SaveOurPubs” competition. Before heading back, we take time to enjoy the village’s peaceful setting and glimpse the historic Church of the Holy Trinity, whose history stretches back to the Domesday Book.
