Riding the Hungerford Steps
This clip shows a run down the well-known Hungerford Steps, one of the more challenging green lane sections near Much Wenlock.
The steps were very wet today, with plenty of mud between the rocks, which makes the descent a careful job and the climb back up even more interesting. What started as a normal ride quickly turned into a phone recovery mission, so we ended up riding the steps down… and straight back up again to find it.
Bikes for the day were a Husqvarna 250FE and a Yamaha 250, both perfect for this kind of tight, technical lane.
A good reminder that on lanes like this it’s all about slow control, picking your line, and a steady throttle—especially when the ground is this slippery.
If you enjoy UK green lanes, technical trail riding, and real off-road conditions, this section is always a memorable one. 🏍️🌿
