Hi there!

I have a 2015 (bought in 2020) Fuji Feather that I'm quite happy with and has had some bits upgraded already (seatpost, seat, brakes, levers…).

I recently started noticing that the freewheel felt gritty and not smooth, it is rather new (2024) but it has seen plenty of bad weather and some kms too, so that makes sense. I tried to fix it myself and couldn't managed, which doesn't bother me much but yeah, so now I'm seriously considering replacing it and this is where I have doubts 🙂

I'm debating between installing a normal, cheap, Shimano freewheel or equivalent vs. going the White Industries route. So any advice from those who nit the bullet before me would be greatly appreciated!!

What I'm looking for is reliability, durability and repairability. Is the WI freewheel a good option considering its cost vs a no-name freewheel? Are there other options (I've read about the Box one, for instance) out there worth checking? You think it is better to stick to cheaper ones?

For info on the rides I do, this is my workhorse and I expect to be able to do anything from 2-3kms commute, to 50-100kms rides in the weekends, mostly paved but not only (lots of cobblestones here), etc. You get the idea!

Pics for reference 🙂
