French cycling prospect Paul Seixas is embracing the challenge of La Flèche Wallonne, one of cycling’s most demanding one-day classics, as he prepares to test himself against the sport’s elite.

Speaking ahead of the race in Belgium, Seixas played down expectations, saying he does not see himself as a favourite and instead wants to “test” his level on the iconic Mur de Huy climb. He also acknowledged the gap between himself and top riders like Tadej Pogacar, describing the Slovenian as “maybe the best cyclist ever.”

The young rider highlighted his recent progress and growing confidence, noting that he is now able to race more aggressively compared to his debut professional season. However, he stressed that experience will be key, as this will be his first time tackling the full demands of the race.

Seixas said competing against riders like Pogacar is both an honour and a learning opportunity, helping him understand what it takes to reach the highest level in the sport.

La Flèche Wallonne, known for its decisive uphill finish, remains a major test for climbers and puncheurs, with Seixas aiming to gain valuable experience rather than immediate victory.
