A little while ago I posted here asking what Brompton Electric riders actually do about the battery when flying.

A lot of the replies stuck with me. Some of you pointed out that Europe is a bit different if you can rely on trains/ferries instead of planes, but others also mentioned that once flying enters the picture, the battery problem comes right back.

u/badzi0r, u/Peter_foldingbike, and u/TripleGGG4111 especially made me feel like this wasn’t just my personal annoyance, but a real travel gap for Brompton Electric riders.

Since then, I’ve had people ask when it would be available in Europe. I checked with Apple, and the answer was basically: not until the app cleared the DSA-related process for EU distribution. That part took a while, but it finally went through.

So it is now available in Europe too.

I’m genuinely excited about that, because Europe feels like one of the places where this is most useful: lots of Brompton riders, lots of travel, and lots of cases where bringing the bike is easy but bringing the battery is the impossible part.

For anyone who didn’t see the earlier update: VoltHop is the app I built to help traveling riders connect with local riders for compatible battery access, as someone said in thie sub, it's airbnb for battery.

Also, shoutout to the people who asked for Android in the earlier thread — u/Obelous-1 and u/focal_matter, I did hear you. The Android version is close now and closed testing is wrapping up.

If anyone here wants Android early access, send me a Reddit DM with the Google account email tied to your Play Store, and I can add you to the tester list.
