I’m planning to take this bike on some longer trips, so I’ve been seriously considering upgrading to a utility fork like the Barnacle or other. The extra mounting options seem super practical for carrying gear but, the price is making me hesitate 😖

Do you think it’s worth the investment for touring, or should I just stick with the suspension fork and run a solid handlebar bag setup instead?

Also, not gonna pretend aesthetics don’t matter… I do want the bike to look pretty badass too.

Would love to hear your setups, experiences, or any suggestions!

  1. That rigid fork plus rack and/or basket would give you all the utility you could need if you’re trying to keep it on the cheap.

  2. Just use your original red GT fork. It looks great and doesn’t cost anything since you already have it. Simply attach the front rack, etc., with clamps – Tubus, for example, offers suitable ones.

Otherwise: the rear rack is mounted in a structurally very awkward way. This doesn’t work. You should definitely change that.
