Hi, i'm currently in a pickle. I have a bottom bracket tool that is advertised to work with isis standard. The issue is that on the bb that needs to be replaced it does not seem to fit, it gets caught on the lip of the spindle.

On the other hand, on the replacement bb the tool fits without issue, so i don't know what to do.

Do i need to buy another tool? thanks:)

  1. am I correct assuming that the new spindle is shorter?
if you don’t plan on reusing the old BB just cut off the spindle (vice-grips to hold it still on the other side, hacksaw/grinder to cut it off), use the tool you have to unscrew the cartridge and mount the new BB.

Does it fit in to the left side? If so, undo the left cup then pull the bb other from the left the. Undo the right cup. If not……ARGH!

Either the tool or the BB are made with the wrong tolerance (my guess is the BB). I’d try getting another tool, like the shimano tl-un52, it should work.

Gotta get a different tool then, unfortunately. The name brand tool makers are more expensive but use better materials so the to can be thinner and not hang up like this

Had the same issue. Bought another tool. And that another tool would fit both BBs.

Shit happens, don’t worry about that much.
