Hi everyone,

I recently discovered an old bicycle that used to belong to my grandfather and decided to restore it. The plan was to fully disassemble it, clean everything thoroughly, and replace all worn parts.

However, during the teardown I ran into a major issue: the bottom bracket was completely destroyed. Removing it took a lot of force and unfortunately caused even more damage in the process. At first we thought this might just be normal given the age of the bike.

Now I’m stuck trying to figure out what kind of bottom bracket this frame actually needs.

I’ll attach some pictures in this post — could anyone help me identify:

– what type of bottom bracket this is (or used to be)?

– what standard might fit here?

– and possibly point me to a replacement (link or model suggestion would be amazing)

From what I’ve read so far, older bikes often use threaded bottom brackets (like BSA or Italian), but I’m not sure how to tell exactly which one I have. (crodercycling.com)

Any help, tips, or resources would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance 🙏
