I got into biking a couple months back and slowly got my close mates into it as well. Eventually we planned a 5 day trip from Jindabyne NSW to Merimbula NSW, about 250km in total and roughly 50% road and 50% gravel.

For seasoned veterans this trip could totally be done in less time, but for us newbies… it was a painful yet incredibly enjoyable 5 days on the road.

Our second day was the toughest, 80km and 1200m elevation, my longest ride and my highest climb by far! But the other days we averaged about 40km and 400-700m of elevation. Which honestly was still a challenge!

I rode a Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 Gen 3with a 35l dry bag strapped to the rack that had all my camping gear, ORTLIEB 5.8l fork packs for clothes and misc electronics, a Restrap 10l handlebar bag for food, 2 cheap Ali express feeder bags and an ORTLIEB top tube bag for other misc bits and bobs.
