First Ride Across Glasgow’s New Renfrew Swing Bridge on an Engwe E26 E-Bike

Join me on my Engwe E26 e-bike ride to the brand-new Renfrew Bridge in Glasgow, which officially opened in May 2025. This incredible £117 million swing bridge is now a key crossing over the River Clyde, linking Renfrew, Yoker and Clydebank.

The Renfrew Bridge is 184 metres long and 12 metres wide, with two lanes for vehicles and dedicated space for walking and cycling. What makes it unique is that it’s the first ever opening road bridge over the River Clyde. Its twin swing spans pivot open by 110 degrees, giving ships up to 47 metres of clearance, the same as the famous Erskine Bridge.

This project is part of the wider Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside regeneration scheme, designed to improve transport, boost active travel, and connect to the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS).

In this video, I’ll be cycling the Engwe E26 electric bike over the Renfrew Bridge for the first time, sharing my thoughts, checking out the views, and giving you a closer look at Glasgow’s newest landmark.
