Inspired by another redditor asking about hitch vs rooftop bike transport, I just wanted to share how we transport our bikes. If your car can fit it, we just clamped some bike fork mounts to our rear seat headrests. We remove the front wheel and then just mount our bikes using the thru-axle or QR skewer. You can find these fork mounts pretty cheap and some have different adapters for QR or different thru-axle thickness. We do need to drop our seat posts, but otherwise our 700c bikes fit in fine.
If you've got a large SUV, you can likely fit 3 bikes in easily. In our case, we can fit both our bikes. I also got this to work with my hatchback years ago.

At first I thought the hack was just shoving your bike into your trunk with the seats down. But attaching the fork mount there is actually pretty clever!
Nice!
Agree, that super cool

Having to adjust my seatpost every time is when I was out. I’m very picky about my saddle height.
Clever solution though.
That’s cool. But are you always taking your pedals off?
Clever, though having to readjust saddle height/alignment every time would be an absolute dealbreaker for me.
Dope!
I just take off both wheels. You can fit 3 bikes and 3 people in a Honda fit
That’s actually hella fire.
Super smart 🙂
