I want to start touring, and yesterday I posted about a road bike I wanted to buy. Thankfully, people in this sub made me realize it’s not the best idea. Now I’m looking for gravel bikes. This one looks good, but it seems a bit worn, and I’m especially concerned about the rusty chain. Do you think that’s a big deal, or should I not consider it?

The bike in general is great. The hub standard is not though. Focus tried road boost which never took off in the industry so they ditched it on the new atlas models. That means that there is basically no aftermarket option for wheels unless you use some kind of adapter for the front wheel. For the rear you can use mtb wheels but the front usses a 12×110 hub. I guess you could use some kind of sleeve to reduce a 15×110 hub down to 12mm but you see what I’m getting at.

Besides that, a rusty chain is easily and cheaply replayed. Especially if it’s 10 speed.
The rest of the components, like chain rings or cassettes are also quite affordable but you should factor that in when you negotiate a price. Can’t really tell you though if the drive train is work by those pictures.
