So I was originally looking for an aluminum road bike, nothing fancy, just something to get me to and from work. Stumbled across this Fuji Supreme 2.0 LE carbon fiber for $400 and honestly couldn’t pass it up.
This is my first road bike ever so I’m still learning. I’ve been reading that carbon can be fragile and people say to be careful with it but I also see people commuting on carbon all the time.
My commute is about 15-20 miles a day, 3-4 times a week m. Nothing crazy, mostly flat roads.
Few questions:
Is carbon okay for commuting or did I make a mistake not going aluminum?
Anything I should watch out for or be careful about with carbon day to day?
Any tips for a beginner commuter on a road bike?
Appreciate any advice, still figuring this all out 🤙

Carbon will last you a long time. Just make sure to check it and lube it up regularly.
Carbon is perfectly fine. Carbon cant take much crushing force or sharp impacts, but those shouldnt be an issue as long as you dont abuse your bike.
Drop bar bikes make it harder to see what’s going on behind you because your head is naturally pointing down. If you’re riding on roads with vehicular traffic you may want to consider using a bike with a semi upright or fully upright riding position (Yes it will be slower)… safety first 👍
