I bought this Ozark Trail g1 explorer to use as commuter after hearing so much good about it. I installed my favorite saddle (Brooks B-17), now I am honestly enjoying this bike more than my expensive carbon bikes with electronic shifting and carbon wheels. I have snacks in my trunk bag and plenty of water. Now I even ride it for fun in the weekends doing 70 miles a ride. More expensive doesn't more fun…..

Side note: I was lucky and got a well built bike, I didn't need to do anything but swap the saddle… I did build multiple bikes from the frame up so I wasn't worried about the build up of the bike.

  1. When I got my Ozark Trail Ridge I could feel the hubs rubbing so I opened them up. One was severely lacking in grease and both hubs were overtightened so I fixed that.

They also cross-threaded one of the bolts on the front brake mount. It’s a bitch to take in/out but I put hydros on and it’s secure so no big deal. The plan was to eventually get an air fork anyway.

I doubled checked bolt tightness everywhere else and it’s been doing fine since.

If you can do your own work these ozark bikes are very good value.

  2. High price has nothing do with how well a bike fits you. That shouldn’t be a suprise to anyone. But high price usually means less weight and more durable components. But that’s a good looking bike no matter the price, happy riding!

  3. if it ain’t broke… the important thing is that you ride, everything else doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cheap bike, it just needs to be fun
