City hall in Paris has been trying to reduce the number of cars on the city streets for some time now. A pro-bike policy with new cycle lanes and anti-car measures is supported by many young families living in the city centre. But many Parisians, including taxi drivers and bike couriers, are not happy with the city’s traffic policies.

  1. taxi safari going through tight, mostly pedestrian-focused little streets, then complains that they get stuck all the time… meredith from maryland can fuck off

  3. such a dumb discussion….. gas and carprices are constantly rising since i was a kid 40 years ago, it is utterly dumb and egoistic to think personal transportation with fossil fuels as it is now has any future, mostly dumb and blind

  4. Amsterdam and Groningen in the Netherlands are nice places to see how you can find solutions. They may not work everywhere but it is a start to get inspiration. One start is to build many parking garages in neighborhoods where many shops are and restrict street parking to people who live there. But whatever you do it will take time and perseverance and take years for people to get used to. In the area where I live in Rotterdam the speed limit has been reduced to 30km/h in all streets and at first I was also complaining. Now, a few years later I don't even understand why we did drive 50 there before, it feels so unsafe! Also I never hear about traffic accidents anymore, only the occasional pedestrian getting hit by a fatbike, but that is about it.

  5. What a mess and will continue if bikes and cars sharing same roads. The cyclists feels entitled to all roads including sidewalks, roads, and bikes lanes and follow no laws and its a bad mixture with other people behind 5000 pounds cars

  6. Umm. Pretty sure this documentary glosses way too much over the fact that there's over 10 metro lines and buses that comme every 5 minutes in Paris. It's not a choice between cycling, cars or staying home.

  7. It's always the lazy, fat fuckers in any language or culture that have a problem with cyclists and bikes. And the unbelievable obvious reality to anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence, is that if all those people on bikes were in cars, there would be far more traffic. Plus the cyclists are far healthier. People are IDIOTS. I love this! I wish every city in America would do it! But we have more lazy, fat assess than most any other country and Americans are often selfish and stupid.

  8. All major cities should make changes in movility. First pedestrians, second bycicles, then public transportation, public services and finally private cars. Along the follow of traffic rules of course.

  9. This is not about sides car or bike. Everyone who is in traffic should get through it safely. And just some of those scenes in the documentary look so dangerous. This is a political issue. Bike lanes which they finally realised in Berlin need to be seperated physically from the car traffic.

  10. No matter how you slice it -more bikes are better ..when the taxi driver said ‘they think they own the road ‘ wow -who dominates the roads and how much land is given over to roads for cars etc??

  11. The war on cars punishes blue collar workers who can't afford to live in central Paris , but depend on cars to come to work. These laws are enacted because of wealthy upper middle class socialists who live there, they don't care as they don't need a car.. It's all part of the mismanagement and corruption in Paris under leftie mayor Anne Hidalgo.. Bike lanes are easy to do, tackling the rampant crime, the filth and the uncontrolled illegal immigration with thousands camping on the sidewalks, not so much…

  12. I really liked that video. Paris is showing the world how to do it. The parking costs in Paris basically say your car is not welcome here. 75 Euros for 6 hours for a car and 225 Euros for an SUV. Did you notice all the people in the taxi were overweight and all the people who cycled look healthy. Well done Paris. Cities are for people not for cars.

  13. Why ask for the opinion of Parisien taxi drivers ? They hate Uber, they're against new taxi permits being issued, they're against the metro, the bus, the tram, they hate Lime bikes, Velib, cyclists, e-scooters, and pedestrians who cross the street because they hate anyone who moves without paying them. Unfortunately, they don't want to work at night, or before 8am, or Thursday night, nor Friday night, and Saturday too, and definitely not Sunday or bank holidays. They had a monopoly, now they don't.

  14. They are building them a prison city aka 15min city and those idiots are happily celebrating it, like a slave praising his master's whip. This has nothing to do with pollution it's all about taking away your mobility and freedom of movement.

23:25 and this b1tch is a walking stereotype on why people hate bikers. She's going in the wrong way and still expects the car to magically teleport around her and her big ass cart bike, when it's realistically much easier for her to move on the pavement. It wouldn't surprise me if her husband was the same type of arrogant prick, which is why he got run over.

  15. Patience goes a long way when sharing the same roadway with other people – conflicts and rancor are driven by anxiety, indifference, and lack of respect for the rights of others.

  16. So you complain about the bicyclists in Paris? Come to the United States where chaos is king! Maybe you should slow down for a stop sign, maybe you should stop for a red light, maybe you should stay in the lanes of your direction, maybe, maybe, maybe. In our wonderful USA, DRIVERS, let alone bicyclists, give the middle finger to the Social Contract, and say FU! I don't want to be told when to wait, I'm a free person in my car. FU!

  17. Well, cyclist need to follow the laws, though it's funny they're so judgemental and they're not following the law either…where's the seat belt on ?? Everyone without it in that car. Unbelievable 5:31

  18. Taxi drivers in Paris are so entitled. I am put in danger on the road by them even when I’m following traffic rules. It’s quite funny to watch them complain about cyclists breaking rules when they also do it everyday.
