The bike is for sale locally, and I think it looks pretty slick, but they’re describing it as a “rust look,” but of course you can’t buy the bike like this. Obviously it needs a little bit more than just to clean up, a few missing parts as well, but can it be saved?

The bottom bracket is concerning… the rest looks fine… you’ll have to get that BB out if there and see if you can clean it up.

Scrub it with tinfoil and WD40, rinse and immediately dry. Scrape until you see bare metal. Then spray paint clear coat. Rat Rod style, In case you have more terrestrial tools 😉

  3. 100% fine. Take out the bottom bracket, make sure it’s not structurally corroding (I doubt it) and scour it, then regrease and (maybe?) install a new one. Other than that, nothing some steel wool and soap cant fix.
