Help! My rotor has been rubbing against the brake caliper like this since I got my new bike a couple of months ago. I have a rotor trueing tool but it doesn’t seem to change anything at all when i try to bend the rotor back. could this be brake alignment issue, or is the rotor a bit warped? Do I just need to use more force on the rotor? It seems like I am pulling a bit too hard with the tool and I don’t want to damage the rotor.

It’s bent. You can try to true it with an adjustable wrench. It takes a bit more force than you’d think

  2. It’s definitely the rotor. I can’t tell if it’s rubbing on the outer pad, which may be stabilizing other wobbles.

Just bend a little harder with the alignment tool. Keep going a little harder until it starts making a difference. Just make sure you rotate the section you’re adjusting more than 90° away from the caliper, so you’re no lt forcing the rotor against it.

It’s one of those things you can just fiddle with until you’re happy with it.

That one is pretty wonky. Make sure the rotors bolts are all tight. If they are, bend it harder. I’ve used a number of the tools but always find it easier to just true it by hand.
