I made a short doc series about the Stagecoach 400, and Episode 3 focuses on the desert section.
This is where things really start to shift. The trail disappears into sand, progress slows way down, and the mental side starts to take over. Riders talk about struggling to eat, to drink… even to think clearly. Some start seeing things a little differently out there.
There’s also this strange dynamic where quitting actually becomes harder than continuing. You’re so deep in it that forward just becomes the only real option.
Curious if others who’ve done long desert stretches (Stagecoach or otherwise) have felt that same thing?
