I’m happy to share my feedback from the last few days on the EuroVelo 1 from Lisbon to Lagos. We slightly adjusted the route and didn’t follow the EV1 exactly 1:1 the whole way.
The scenery was beautiful, and the weather was great (last week of March). We were really surprised by how beautiful Portugal is – forests, coastline, beaches, villages and more.
We rode between 50–80 km per day.
Thats was my wife’s first tour, and she really enjoyed it.
Almost everything was rideable (even along the coast), but there are some sections with sand.
Bike recommendation:
gravel bikes with 40–50 mm tires were perfect.
We met many friendly people along the route, had some excellent food, and always stayed spontaneously in hotels.
We’ll probably also ride the EV1 section from the north to Lisbon.
