I recently bought the attached DT Swiss 240s Rear Hub 28h (12 x 148 TA Boost Micro Spline), which I thought would work with my Shimano cassette.
I brought it to my LBS and they immediately said it wouldn’t work. Said that the Ratchet EXP free hub body is not compatible with 240s hub. Can someone please verify that this is correct? I’m conflicted because the guy I bought it from said it’ll work but my LBS disagrees and wants to sell me a different free hub body. First time buying a standalone hub so trying to learn.

I’m confused, is your cassette HG?
I’m not sure what they’re talking about. You can go right to DT’s website and spec a 240s with the EXP free hub, so it should be compatible. Looking at your post history, the Scott that you’re on uses a Shimano 12s microspline driver, so you should have to correct hub. I’d ask them for more clarification on what they think the problem is, so you can make an informed decision (or go to another more knowledgeable shop).
Shop is correct about EXP, Ratchet EXP freehub is not compatible with older non-EXP ratchet 240s/350 hubs, which yours is. You can however get a non-EXP HG freehub if that’s what you need (hint, maybe just get an AliE one)
per u/recycled-account, is your cassette HG not Microspline?
Not 100% sure but that looks like an older 240 hub, which uses their classic “ratchet” system, which is different from the newer “ratchet exp” system. Kind of dumb naming scheme but I assume it’s what’s going on here, I dont believe they’re intercompatible, dt swiss has a page on their website about the different ratchet technologies [here](https://www.dtswiss.com/en/wheels/wheels-technology/ratchet-technologies-overview)
