Visit the vlllages on the Rucăr-Bran Pass until they are still not on the Romania’s hot-spot radar!
These little villages are simply wonderful – you’ll find yourself many times wondering: have I stepped into Switzerland?
You can explore these places either by foot or on a bike (even by car, but I personally consider this an incomplete experience).
This weekend we chose to explore these villages by bike and we had a wonderful time!
There are many marked mountain bike trails in the area. This time we covered part of trail no 11, which starts aproximately 2km before reaching Șirnea village (coming from Bran). The trail descends to Dâmbovicioara, the it suddenly turns right towards Ciocanu, later reaching Șirnea and back to the starting point.
I would recommend starting the route in the opposite direction, as cycling up from Dâmbovicioara to Ciocanu the road is quite steep.
This route can also be covered on foot.
