Juste avant le premier monument de la saison masculine avait lieu le premier monument de la saison féminine ! Ce samedi après-midi constitue effectivement la première journée majeure du cyclisme avec Milan-San Remo Donne qui précède Milan-San Remo. Tenante du titre sur la course feminine, Lorena Wiebes était encore une fois la favorite pour s’imposer sur la Via Roma. Sans Kasia Niewiadoma (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) et Kim Le Court (AG Insurance – Soudal Team), victimes d’une chute dans la descente de la Cipressa, Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Premier Tech) s’est isolée au sommet du Poggio avec Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx-ProTime) et trois autres coureuses. C’est donc un quintet qui s’est disputé la victoire sur la Via Roma, et finalement, dans la lignée de sa victoire sur la Nokere Koerse, c’est Lotte Kopecky qui s’est imposée pour ajouter un cinquième monument, un premier Milan-San Remo, à son immense palmarès.

That crash was bloody awful, I hope she recovers and gets back to full power.
Lotte Kopecky back at the front. Poor Demi Vollering will have to deal with a stronger opponent – smarter and faster – in coming classics. I will be very happy to see Kopecky beat her too in april. And of course Puck Pieterse, our real Dutch queen will keep on beating Demi like she already did twice.

Female cyclist: Crashes bike hits a guard rail at about 60kmh then goes flying over rail down a 3 metre concrete ravine, dusts herself off and gets back on bike and continues race.
Male soccer player: A mosquito lands on his neck, falls down in agony crying holding his leg and calls for the medic
That crash needed better coverage than this … I don't know, was it editing, was it cut out so people didn't have to witness it? …. best of luck to everyone hurt, especially Debora Silvestri and the lass who banged her head.
