Hi, have a bit of an issue with my elite wheels Shimano freehub, when coming back to it after having my casette on my trainer noticed the freehub ratchet comes off without any resistance and whenever the casette is on and tightening the thru axle it seizes it up so the whole casette and wheel no longer works. Tried looking and checking if maybe missing a bushing or spacer but couldn't figure it out. Oddly enough in fall everything worked fine, so seems with the winter removal something happened. Wheels are Elite Wheels ENT with Shimano HG 12spd freehub.

  1. Jumpy-Birthday8446 on

Plenty of freehubs pull out with no resistance. I’d not worry about that, although it can be annoying. From experience, the binding upon being tightened is usually the dust seal (green? in your pics) not engaging properly with the hub body. It usually needs to near-snap into place rather than just be squashed in when things are tightened up. Doing this without removing the cassette from the freehub is a pain.

  2. Have you still got the endcap (top hat looking piece that goes on after the freehub body)? Are there any silver marks that look like there might have been something rubbing on the outside end of the freehub body, or the inside of the endcap?
