Comedians are truly the masters of taking the most personal sad moments and turn them into comedy gold. His dad was a immigrant so coming to another country he had to work and strive to provide for the family. So he was probably never happy or had the opportunity to have a job to be happy about it. That's why he was keeping it to himself.
