Hello all!! I just got this bike at a pi day sale for $20!! I looked it up and i’m told its a 70’s Schwinn varsity. it also has a sticker showing that it was bought from Stoney’s in Santa Clara at one point in time!
It rides smoothly though it is a little creaky when I pedal (when I coast it doesn’t) and it also is kind of bumpy at one point in the rotation of the tires and I can’t tell if its the crankset and or derailleur OR the tires themselves.
Other than that, it has a cool sticker on it saying it was a licensed bicycle in the state of california in 1980!!!
I do have a few questions!

is the maintenance hard on these bikes?! I want to restore it and maintain it to the best of my own ability but with it being pretty old does that come with any unforeseen challenges!?

any damage seen/mentioned I should worry about?

what are some steps to take in order to make this bike last!? I’ve fallen hard for this bike and wish to make it last as long as I can!!
