Answer me this: with all the bikes available on the used market… why buy the one with a crack on frame ? What about this bike is making you overlook that ?

That’s still a stress crack regardless if the carbon “looks” OK. It literally goes from the edge of a routing grommet to the lower headset cup. Amateur repair attempt does to give confidence that someone qualified actually spent time looking at it either. Upper triangle is a write off in my opinion.

I just wouldn’t buy a carbon fiber frame from somebody who chucks it by the top tube.

When getting stabbed by the bike is a real possibility, it’s not a good deal.

    Nope,
and from the comments, if You want something cheap, maybe look up for one wich is a tack older, yet cleaner, or one wich had lower MSRP.
I don’t do carbon anyways, it’s nice but if it’scracked, same with aluminium, shit’s cooked.
And if You mostly just need something cheap, there’s plenty out for around 500 bucks, no cracks, maybe needs a new pair of tires, maybe not, but it’s fine.

    Hard pass on this one.

  6. I’d stay away. That crack is still plainly visible, and the crappy paint matching is not the sign of a quality fix. Plus the fact of where that crack is. When it goes, and the entire fork tube breaks off, you’re going to get seriously hurt.

Omg, $850 for basically a bike that’s probably going to send you to the ER? It’s only worth the components at this point which is nowhere near $850, probably less. Not sure why the owner didn’t pursue a warranty repair. It’s a 2019 bike but still should be covered.

Do the “coin test” on the damaged carbon. If it passes offer them $500, maybe go up to $600 if it seems to be nicely maintained and shifting well. The frame is probably fine. Ive put some pretty big dents in carbon frames and continued to ride on them for multiple seasons and been fine. Reality is this thing is barely worth $850 in mint condition. With the frame damage, likely suspension service needed, age, and lower end components $550 seems pretty fair.

Most people here are gonna tell you not to buy it. And I’m one of them.

    Don’t.
