I'm looking for a new endurance road bike for big rides with lots of climbing (the Triple Bypass Ride in Colorado being a near-term objective). I've been riding a 2010 Cervelo S1 with 25mm tires for several years and am used to a more race-oriented fit, but I tested a Cervelo Caledonia 105 on a 65-mile ride with considerable climbing around Boulder, CO, last week and really enjoyed the more comfortable riding position. The Caledonia Force AXS and Canyon Endurace CF SLX 8 Di2 both look like great options for the type of riding I gravitate towards. The Caledonia comes in at a bit higher price point, and I'd need to spend more to add a power meter, but from what I can tell it might have a slightly more aggressive fit than Canyon's Endurace model, which could be nice for an occasional race.

Is there any rational argument for going for the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 8 AXS instead? I don't race (aside from rides like the Triple Bypass Ride and an occasional Gran Fondo), although I've been interested to try it out sometime. I think I'm better served with a more comfortable position at the expense of aerodynamics/speed, although considering I'm on a race-oriented bike now, maybe the shift to a more modern carbon frame bike would still be a good compromise…
