Leaving the UK is never easy, but the adventure to Spain is officially underway! From emotional goodbyes to one last Wetherspoons breakfast, I’m making my way from Portsmouth to catch the 36-hour Brittany Ferry to Bilbao. I even managed to score a whole 4-berth cabin to myself! 🇪🇸✨

  1. 36 hours on a ferry and I somehow ended up with a 4-person cabin all to myself—luxury! 😂 Spain, I’m ready for those 90 days. Where should I head first once I roll off the boat in Bilbao? 👇🚲

  2. "Desculpe, Ingles" which is my pet phrase for starting any conversation or transaction in Spain. (Roughly translates as "Terribly sorry, I'm English, so it makes Spainiards laugh.) Looking forward to my own crossing with bicycle from Portsmouth in a month or so.

  3. Me too. I even asked how if was possible to book a cheaper four berth cheaper than a single berth with exclusive use and they had no sensible explanation. I opted to spend slightly more for a two berth and appreciated the additional space. It just doesn’t pass the pub test?

  4. I love the intensity of the small joys that come from travel. Stuff like winding up with a cabin to yourself, with a fake ocean view. We don't tend to get that when we're living in a routine at home, exposed to the same things over and over every day. Travel to me means continual exposure to unexpected, unpredictable joys, and it makes life feel so rich.

Looking forward to following this next odyssey.
