Have been chipping away at this build for a while. A mashup of the frame and groupset I most coveted as a kid — 1996 Klein Quantum Pro and Dura-Ace 7800. Converted to a flat bar to ride around town with the kids after seeing a few on here. Not period correct, not perfect condition, but just right for me (though I may splurge on some Paul brakes and levers at some point).

Big thanks to Aaron at Rat City Bikes in Seattle for the help throughout, especially with the finicky Klein bearings (he even had the original Klein headset press!), and to Colin at Cyclefab for manufacturing the custom spacer.

Details:

-1996 Klein Quantum Pro frame w/ original Aeros fork in burgundy blue

-Dura Ace 7800 crankset, derailleurs, front brake, cassette etc.

-Shimano SL-R770 flat shifters

-Tektro mid-pull rear brake (to fit 30 rear tire)

-Tektro levers

-Phil Wood BB

-Remanufactured Airheadset cups (thanks Jon from Kleins Painted)

-Klein Airhead stem in matching paint

-Klein stratum 90 carbon bar

-Vintage Klein grips

-Custom header spacer (thanks Colin from Cyclefab Seattle)

-Thomson post

-Brooks C17 carved saddle

-Mavic Ksyrium SSL alloy rims debadged (came with the frame, may upgrade at some point)

– Panaracer Gravelking Slick tires (28 front 30 rear)

Good lord this is fucking *hot.*

    Minty Klein? Check.

    Matching stem? Check.

Minty 7800 full group? Check. (objectively, the best looking group of all-time, fight me)

    Fun flat bar conversion? Check.

*Fire* build dude. Very, very nice looking bike.

That looks like a ton of fun. Looking at selling my 2001 quantum race, as now that I am an inch shorter than when I bought it, and much older, my neck really complains if I ride it anymore.
