I have an opportunities to purchase this bike. I am new to the sport and they don’t really know anything about bikes I’m thinking about purchasing this for $500. Seems like it’s in mint shape. I will be using it for a little bit of driving to and from work and then on trails on the weekend at the lake not sure how much this bike retails for is this a good fit for me?

You could probably get something a little higher quality for $500. This is a very small frame too. How tall are you? Are you still growing?

I bought this bike brand new 9 years ago I think for 7-$800? Honestly don’t remember the exact price. I’ve pretty much gone and replaced everything except the wheels/cassette and the crankset at this point. Biggest downfall for me was that coil fork. As of now, I love the bike but I feel like you might get better bang for your buck if you spend a little more on something that either has some sort of upgrades done, or had decent parts from the start. A used bike is always going to be a bit of a gamble.

If you’re really feeling a deal… use Chat gpt and try to haggle with the guy. Never pay what someone’s asking. Feel out the sale and never feel obligated to pay an outrageous price. I’d try to knock it down to 350, maybe start a negotiation at $300.
