Is your stance holding back your snowboarding? More information bellow

If you’re riding duck foot, you could be limiting your snowboard potential.
There is two reasons for this,
First, having both knees open, will make it so your hips are open towards both directions.
This will make it a lot harder to turn your back knee in words what’s going dramatically limit your range of motion.

The main issue is it can lead to knee pain, depending on the bio mechanics of your body both knees rotated out, can be extremely uncomfortable in the long run.

And if it is comfortable, it could be an indicator that you have external tilt in your hips, what can be caused by stiff muscles or other body problems that might be made worse by doing a high impact sport in that stance.

At the end of the day use whatever stance works best for you , but it’s worth taking the time to see if it’s a stance helping your body or building off issues that should be fixed.

  1. Text description totally different from what's explained in the video. Video is kinda garbage. Very subjective and vague. Text description actually makes sense.

  2. I used to ride old school for the longest time like 15 and 0. I finally set mine to like 7 and 7 just to try, honestly I dont know if I'll increase it it feel perfect for me

  3. 17/10 no knee pain. Back foot 1/2cm back – helos me engage the heal edge much better for carving a turn. All I can say ride for a few days. If it’s perfect keep it, but if it’s not start tweeking.

  4. 15 and -15 and tore my meniscus 3 times in the right knee in highschool as a competitive snowboarder. Wonder if this contributed lol. Also going to try and go to 12 and -9 maybe, I think that duck has made my style worse

  5. I guess everyone is different but I could never figure out why so many people ride a duck stance unless they ride a ton of switch. I ve been riding a posi posi around 21, 9 since the late 90s and wouldnt change it for anything. It allows for a lot more normal body position and comfort on the knees, more natural for carving too. Can still ride switch ok with it, just a little less confidently, but more than enough to land switch tricks and ride away.

If you go back and watch 90s and early 00s videos you realize most of the pros back then were riding something similar. Terje was ripping the pipe with a posi posi stance among many others

  6. Am i being dumb or are peoplo not puttinf the minus because its inferred or are people seriously having their backfoot going at a positive angle?

  7. I tried -9/12 coming frkm -12/12 and i sucked! Lol
I did use a new board, a stiff directional board (kazu) but man… i could not ride switch and i xoulsnt do 180s lol

  8. 15/15 and my front ankle suffering with a lot of rotational pressure, I adjusted 18/15 and I love it, no more ankle plain and riding perfectly
