I’d say they are appropriately rated. Do you see lots of people talking trash?

They look dumb, and for a gravel bike, are very heavy. I pooped on them for a long time.

Then, I rode one. And I’ve got to say, it’s good. Really good. I’d say it’s distinctly better than a telescoping fork. Are they underrated? Not sure, the people I know that have them love them. After having ridden one, I love it too.

You know what? Yeah, I do think they are underrated. If everyone knew how good they were, we’d seem them on more non-Lauf bikes.

  3. I’m curious if anyone has experience installing them on a non lauf bike?

They look very tempting, but I don’t need a whole new bike, nor do I want to switch to sram right now. And lauf sells the forks separately and the specs look right for my frame, but I’m a bit cautious…

  4. I’d be a little worried about that design flexing the wrong way at high speed. I only have one bike so I wouldn’t do it.

It would be cool if someone could make a steel or ti version of this instead of carbon. Could be a nice modification on vintage bikes.

  6. These are decent for gravel as they do absorb fire road chatter, reducing rider fatigue. But (!) they do not have a damper which makes them mostly unfit for mountain biking. The leaves/springs themselves provide a bit of natural damping, but not much. They are moderately responsive to small bumps and feel very springy on larger impacts. I found the claims of Lauf’s lateral stiffness grossly overstated, it actually felt very flexy and less stable at high-speed cornering than traditional telescoping fork.
