Hey! Looking for an upgrade from my current Specialized Allez 2007 Comp (running 25mm tyres) which has been my first bike for about two years and has served me well. Bought that one for about $250 and another $150 on upgrades. Perhaps a bit too "harsh/aggressive/jittery" on me considering I'm looking to continute doing 40-120kms as leisure or commuting (21km one way.) I'm quite stuck on not knowing what I want- a better groupset for the price? A more relaxed style? Better performance? All of the above?
Second hand market in Sweden seems a bit harsher than other European countries, people like to sell close to new price. The tarmac is said to have had 2 owners with 10,000kms+ though with very good service history and a replaced cassette, with an included power meter due to a stuck pedal.
Other alternative I'm seeing is a 2024 domane AL 2 refurbished in good condition for $900 ish by a company, and it's the only alternative I'm seeing in my price range (up to $1100) that's touted for it's endurance. Though the groupset and mechanical disc brake is putting me off from it.
I feel like I'd get more for my money buildspec-wise with the tarmac, despite it not being super "relaxed." Is it worth it anyway?

The tarmac won’t really have any wider tyre clearance than your current bike so a bit of a sideways move in that regard. I believe the Domane can go to 38/40. The groupset and mechanical disc brakes are a means to an end, even Claris is probably going to be night and day compared to a 20 year old entry level groupset.
